Ageing: As people age, the metabolism of the body slows down, and the function of hair follicles gradually declines. The growth rate of eyelashes slows down, and they become more prone to falling out.
Makeup and removal: Frequent use of mascara, false eyelashes, and eyeliner can put stress on the eyelashes. Harsh makeup removers or improper removal methods, such as rubbing the eyes vigorously, can also cause eyelashes to fall out.
Use of beauty tools: The improper use of eyelash curlers, such as using too much force or pinching the eyelashes, may damage the eyelashes and lead to their falling out.
Environmental factors: Living or working in an environment with much dust, strong wind, or chemical pollutants can irritate the eyes and cause eyelashes to fall out.
Ocular infections: Blepharitis, conjunctivitis, or styes can cause inflammation at the base of the eyelashes, affecting the health of the eyelash follicles and resulting in eyelash loss.
Systemic diseases: Diseases such as hypothyroidism, alopecia areata, and trichotillomania can affect the body's hormonal balance and immune function, leading to eyelash loss.
Nutritional deficiencies: A lack of vitamins (such as vitamin B, vitamin C, and vitamin E), minerals (such as iron and zinc), and protein in the body can affect the health of eyelashes and cause them to fall out easily.
