Eyelashes will generally grow back if they fall off, as they have a natural growth cycle. The growth process can be divided into the following three stages:
- Anagen phase: This is the growth phase of the eyelashes. During this period, the cells at the base of the hair follicles actively divide and multiply, and the eyelashes gradually grow longer and thicker. The anagen phase of eyelashes usually lasts for about 30 to 45 days.
- Catagen phase: After the anagen phase, the eyelashes enter the catagen phase, which is a transitional phase. The hair follicles gradually shrink, and the growth of the eyelashes slows down and eventually stops. This phase usually lasts for about 2 to 3 weeks.
- Telogen phase: In the telogen phase, the eyelashes are in a resting state. After a certain period of time, the old eyelashes will naturally fall off, and at the same time, new eyelashes will begin to grow from the hair follicles to replace the fallen ones. The telogen phase of eyelashes generally lasts for about 90 to 120 days.
The entire growth cycle of eyelashes is relatively long compared to other body hairs. If the eyelashes fall off due to normal metabolism or accidental factors, new eyelashes will usually grow back within a few months. However, if the hair follicles are damaged due to factors such as inflammation, trauma, or certain diseases, it may affect the growth of eyelashes and lead to problems such as slow growth or no growth.
