Precautions after eyelash grafting

After getting eyelash grafting, there are several important precautions to ensure the best results and maintain the health of your natural lashes and eyes. The details are as follows:

Precautions after eyelash grafting(pic1)

In the Short Term (1-3 Days)

  • Avoid Contact with Water: Try to keep your eyes away from water for at least 24 hours after eyelash grafting. This is to allow the adhesive to fully dry and set. Taking a shower within 24 hours is not recommended, and if you need to wash your face, be extremely careful around the eye area and use a damp towel to gently wipe the rest of your face. After 24 hours, you can wash your face carefully, but avoid direct and prolonged exposure of the eyelashes to water.
  • No Rubbing or Touching: Do not rub or touch your eyelashes with your hands. The newly grafted lashes are relatively fragile, and rubbing or touching them may cause the false lashes to fall off prematurely or damage the natural lashes. If there is something in your eye, try to blink a few times to let tears flush it out naturally, rather than using your hands to rub.
  • Watch for Allergic Reactions: Some people may be allergic to the adhesive used in eyelash grafting. Keep an eye on your eye area within 1-3 days to see if there are any signs of redness, swelling, itching, or other allergic reactions. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.

In the Medium Term (3-7 Days)

  • Gentle Cleaning: Around 3 days after eyelash grafting, you can start to gently clean your eyelashes. Use a mild, oil-free cleanser and a clean, soft brush or cotton swab to gently wipe along the direction of the lashes from the root to the tip. This helps to remove dirt and oil without disturbing the grafted lashes.
  • Sleeping Position: Try to sleep on your back as much as possible to avoid crushing your eyelashes. If you usually sleep on your side, be careful not to press your face against the pillow too hard, as this can cause the lashes to become deformed or fall off.
  • No Makeup: It is best to avoid applying eye makeup, especially mascara and eyeliner, within 7 days after eyelash grafting. Makeup can clog the pores around the eyes and may also affect the adhesion of the grafted lashes. If you really need to wear makeup, choose products that are easy to remove and be very careful when applying and removing them.

In the Long Term (Over 7 Days)

  • Regular Refills: Eyelash extensions generally have a lifespan of about 1-2 months. As your natural lashes grow and fall out, the grafted lashes will also fall off gradually. You may need to go for regular refills every 2-3 weeks to maintain the effect. However, do not overdo the refills to avoid excessive burden on the natural lashes.
  • Use of Eyelash Care Products: You can use some eyelash care products, such as eyelash serums, to help nourish your natural lashes and make them healthier. But make sure to choose products that are suitable for use with eyelash extensions and follow the instructions carefully.
  • Regular Inspection: Regularly check the condition of your eyelashes to see if there are any signs of lash loss, damage, or infection. If you notice any problems, such as excessive lash loss, redness, pain, or discharge, consult a professional eyelash technician or a doctor in time.
